Auditions announced for "The Dining Room"

Marblehead Little Theatre has announced that their spring production of A. R. Gurney’s “The Dining Room” will play for 3 weekends at the Fire house on School Street beginning on Friday, March 28th at 800PM. Performances will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 800PM and Sundays at 500PM through the 13th of April.

Directed by John Fogle, who won last year’s DASH award for his work on MLT’s production of “On Golden Pond”, “The Dining Room” completes the New England trilogy of plays performed by MLT with their grand opening of “Our Town” in April of 2006.

The play is entirely set in the dining room, in the house, of a typical well-to-do New England family and offers a mosaic of interrelated and often overlapping scenes; some funny, some touching, some savagely satiric. There are some fifty-odd parts of all ages and up to 12 actors will be cast who will transform themselves from one stock character to another at a moment’s notice. What holds the play together –in the absence of plot or character development—is the unremitting focus on the nature of the upper middle class life which was built around but has lost sight or even rejected, the family dinner at the dining room table.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Feb 6th at 700PM and Saturday, Feb 9th at 200PM at MLT’s Fire House, 12 School Street, Marblehead, MA.
